Premier Lighting Installation Experts in Ogden & Northern Utah
Lighting is one of those parts of a home that people don’t think about much until it’s wrong, and then they can’t stop thinking about it. The right fixtures in the right spots completely change how a room feels, how it functions, and how easy it is to actually live in. Mr Amp installs lighting of every type for homes across Ogden and Northern Utah, from a single new fixture in a dining room to a full lighting plan for a remodel or new build.
We’re a licensed electrical company based in Ogden, and lighting is one of the things we get called for most. Whether you have a fixture you already bought and just need installed, or you’re starting from a bare ceiling and need a plan for the whole space, we’ll handle the install cleanly, safely, and to current code.
Our Lighting Installation Services
We handle the full range of residential lighting work. The categories below overlap on purpose, since most rooms benefit from a combination of them.
Interior Lighting
Recessed cans, pendants, chandeliers, flush mounts, ceiling fans with lights, track lighting, and any other indoor fixture you’d like installed. We’ll work with you to plan placement, cut clean openings, run new wiring where needed, and get the switching set up the way you want.
Exterior & Outdoor Lighting
Outdoor lighting does two things at once: it makes your home safer and it makes it look better at night. We install landscape lighting, security lighting, patio and deck lighting, soffit lighting, and walkway and driveway lighting throughout Northern Utah. We’ll handle the trenching and outdoor-rated wiring, install fixtures with proper weather protection, and set up switching and timers however you want them controlled.
Accent Lighting
Accent lighting is the layer that gives a room dimension. Recessed spots aimed at artwork, track lighting along an architectural feature, under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen, and toe-kick or stair lighting all draw the eye where you want it. We’ll help you plan placement, lay out the fixtures, and install everything with the right switching and dimming so it actually performs the way it should.
Specialty Lighting
Specialty lighting fixtures are how you take a room from finished to memorable. Statement chandeliers, pendants over a kitchen island, wall sconces in a hallway, architectural fixtures, and custom designer pieces all change how a space feels. We handle the install start to finish, including any wiring changes, ceiling support, or switching the new fixture needs to function correctly.
Lighting Control & Smart Lighting
Lighting control is what makes a lighting system actually work the way you live. That includes smart lighting systems you can run from a phone or tablet, dimmer switches that set the mood and extend bulb life, motion sensors that handle hallways and exteriors hands-free, timer controls for security and outdoor lighting, and centralized systems that let you manage every zone from a single interface. For larger setups that tie into the rest of your house, see our smart home automation services.
Layered Lighting: How We Approach a Lighting Plan
Good lighting almost always comes down to three layers working together. If a room feels off, it’s usually because one of these is missing.
Ambient lighting is the base layer, the general light that fills the room. Recessed cans, flush-mount fixtures, and central chandeliers usually handle this layer.
Task lighting is what you use to actually do something, like cook, read, or work. Under-cabinet lights, vanity lights, pendants over an island, and desk lighting all fall into this category.
Accent lighting is the layer that adds dimension and personality. This is where you highlight art, architectural features, or specific zones of a room.
When all three are planned together, with proper switching and dimming, the room becomes flexible. You can make it bright and energetic when you need it, soft and quiet when you don’t. If you’re remodeling or building, this is one of the most worthwhile conversations to have with your electrician early in the project.
LED Upgrades and Energy-Efficient Lighting
If your home is still running incandescent or halogen bulbs, switching to LED is one of the easiest wins available. LEDs use roughly 75 to 90 percent less energy than the bulbs they replace, last dramatically longer, and run cool enough that you can leave them on without worrying about heat damage to the fixture. For Northern Utah homeowners running heavy lighting loads during long winter evenings, the energy savings stack up fast.
We handle full LED conversions, including swapping out incompatible dimmers (most older dimmers don’t work properly with LEDs), upgrading recessed cans to LED retrofits, and replacing entire fixtures where the existing one isn’t worth keeping. If you’re not sure what you have or what’s worth upgrading, we’ll walk through it during the estimate.
