Looking for a Home Theater?
There’s a moment when a well-designed home theater pulls you in and stops feeling like a room in your house. The lights drop. The picture fills the wall. The first low note from the subwoofer settles in your chest. For the next two hours, the rest of the world disappears. That’s the difference between a TV with a soundbar and a real home theater, and that’s what we build.
Mr Amp designs and installs custom home theater systems for homeowners across Ogden and Northern Utah. Whether you’re building new, finishing a basement, or carving out space in an existing home, we’ll plan and install a system that performs the way it should: cinematic picture, immersive sound, and controls so simple anyone in the family can use them.

Why a Home Theater Is Worth Building
A great home theater changes how a house gets used. Friday night movies stop being something you settle for and start being something everyone looks forward to. Big games turn into events. The room becomes the spot where the family ends up, and the spot you actually enjoy showing guests on the way through the house.
The other thing worth knowing is that a properly designed home theater holds its value better than almost any other interior upgrade. In Northern Utah’s housing market, a dedicated theater room or a high-end media room is a feature buyers actively look for. Even if you’re not planning to sell, you’ll feel the upgrade every time you use the room.
If you are looking to create a spectacular experience, our professional technicians will help you pick the right components so that you can enjoy the best audio and video quality possible. The speakers, receiver and display are extremely important to make the overall experience exceptional, and the type of components we recommend depend greatly on the home theater room design.
Our Home Theater Services
We have over 15 years of experience in the custom electronics design and installation industry. We will listen to your needs and design the perfect system just for you. Simple and easy-to-use systems are our specialty. We handle the entire build, from blank room to first movie night. That includes:
- Custom design. We start by understanding how you want to use the room. Movies, sports, gaming, mixed use, the size of the audience you’re typically hosting, and the look you’re after. From there we plan the equipment, the layout, the wiring runs, and the controls.
- Component selection. The display, the receiver or processor, the speakers, the amplifiers, and the source devices all have to work together. We match components based on the room and your goals, not whatever happens to be on the shelf this month.
- Wiring and prefit. If you’re at the framing stage of a new build or remodel, this is where we earn our keep. Speaker locations, conduit runs, equipment rack space, power, network drops, lighting control wiring, and HVAC considerations all need to be planned before drywall goes up.
- Acoustic and lighting design. A theater room lives or dies on acoustics and how the room handles light. We’ll guide treatments, fixture placement, dimming zones, and any blackout considerations that affect performance.
- Installation and calibration. Speakers go in precisely. Wiring gets terminated cleanly. The display gets mounted and aligned. The receiver and processor are tuned to the actual room, not factory defaults. The result should sound and look like it belongs there.
- Smart control setup. One remote, or one app, or one button on the wall. We program the system so it actually behaves the way you want.
- Ongoing support. Firmware updates, new device pairings, calibration touch-ups. If something needs attention down the road, we’re a phone call away.
New Construction or Remodel: We Handle Both
Most of the theater builds we do fall into one of two scenarios:
New construction. This is the ideal case. We come in during the framing stage, plan the wiring runs, equipment rack space, conduit paths, lighting circuits, and speaker locations before anything closes up. The result is a cleaner install, hidden cabling, optimal speaker placement, and a room designed for theater performance from day one. We work directly with builders and general contractors throughout Ogden and Northern Utah.
Remodel or basement finish. Finishing a basement is the most common path to a home theater in Northern Utah, and for good reason. Basements give you the dimensions, the natural sound isolation, and the light control that make for excellent theater rooms. We work with your remodeler (or coordinate with one if you don’t have someone) to design the build around the system rather than the other way around. We also do retrofits in existing rooms when basement finishing isn’t on the table.
If you’re early in either process, getting us involved before drywall goes up is the single biggest favor you can do for the finished result.
Whole-Home Audio & Background Music
A great home theater is often the start of a larger conversation about audio. Music has the same kind of effect on a home that a theater does on a movie, just spread across the whole house instead of one room. Mr Amp designs and installs whole-home audio and background music systems that let you stream your favorite music to the kitchen, the patio, the primary suite, or the entire house from a single app. The right speakers in the right rooms, calibrated correctly, change how the house feels, whether it’s a quiet Sunday morning, a dinner party, or the holidays. We also install background music systems for offices and retail spaces.
Brands We Install
We work with the brands that have earned their reputations over decades, not the trend of the moment. That includes Paradigm, Anthem, Marantz, Sonance, Denon, Sony, Savant, Epson, and many more. If you have a preference, we’ll work with it. If you don’t, we’ll guide the decision based on the room, your goals, and your budget.
Why use Mr Amp?

- 15+ years in custom electronics. Home theater is one of the things we’ve been doing the longest. The work shows.
- Local to Ogden, working across Northern Utah. Based on 25th Street in Ogden, with theater builds across Ogden, Layton, Bountiful, Park City, and the surrounding communities.
- Design that fits the room, not a template. Every theater we build is planned around your space, your equipment preferences, and the way you actually use the room.
- Coordination with your builder or remodeler. We’ve worked alongside builders, GCs, architects, and interior designers for years. We know how to plug into a construction schedule cleanly.
- Clean, intentional installs. Wiring hidden, equipment racks organized, speakers aligned, displays mounted flush and level. Open one of our racks five years from now and it should still look the way we left it.
- Simple, reliable controls. A theater that’s hard to operate doesn’t get used. We program control systems so the whole family can run them, then we sit down with you and walk through how everything works.
- One company for the rest of your home. Lighting control, motorized shades, networking, smart home integration, and security all tie into the same ecosystem. You don’t need to coordinate multiple specialists.
